Women in Bulawayo’s Pumula suburb say the involvement of some members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police in criminal activities is worrying.
This follows an incident where alert and vigilant women and men in Pumula pursued and apprehended three police officers who had just stolen power cables in the Pumula East suburb.
The Alert residents effected a citizens’ arrest, before handing them over to the police.
Some women that to part in the brave expedition in the wee hours of Sunday, March 13th spoke to Amakhosikazi Media and narrated what transpired.
The ZESA Holdings recently said it was seeking a review of the mandatory sentence for criminals convicted for stealing power cables and transformers from 10 to 30 years.
