In a development that is sure to put families in Zimbabwe’s second-biggest city on high alert, a serial rapist is on the loose.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police says it is investigating 16 cases of rape where young girls have been lured by an unknown man under the pretext that they should accompany him to collect parcels sent by relatives from South Africa.
Acting Bulawayo Police spokesperson Nomalanga Msebele detailed how the serial rapist is luring the young girls.
She urged members of the public to desist from giving people they do not know information about their neighbors and also verify with their relatives in the diaspora.
News of a serial rapist on the loose reminds one of incarcerated South African serial rapist and killer Moses Sithole who committed the ABC Murders, so named because they began in Atteridgeville, continued in Boksburg and finished in Cleveland, a suburb of Johannesburg. Sithole murdered at least thirty-eight people between 16 July 1994 and 6 November 1995.
